Manderston (20/20) 2017

The Borderers came to Manderston in optimistic mood and after winning the toss, chose to bat.

Tom Carroll and Hugo Balfour-Melville opened the innings posting 24, before both falling in quick succession bringing Henry Strouts and Jack Straker to the crease.

Strouts posted 21 and Straker became the backbone of the Borderers’ innings whilst others came and went – eventually making 33. A run of stumpings saw the Borderers run rate slow and eventually reach 130 for 9 at the close - George Farr scoring 10 and Rufus half a cow 11.

Sim opened the innings for Manderston by hitting the first ball for 6 back over the bowler’s head…The Borderers were worried.

Fortunately Sim fell to Blake in the next over and the game ebbed and flowed with Manderston maintaining the run chase and Jamie Lindsay scoring a creditable 29. Wickets continued to fall and at the last over Manderston needed 10 runs to win.

George Farr bowled a tight line and runs were kept to 7…so the Borderers ran out winners by 3 runs – a fine evening and a good win.
