Kelso & St.Boswells 2015
A change of venue and format for the 2015 St Boswells match witnessed a three way, 15 over tournament between The Borderers, St Boswells and Kelso at Shedden Park, on Saturday 29th Aug 2015
Kelso comfortably beat St Boswells in the first match.
The second match was contested between The Borderers and St Boswells, weather fair, dry pitch. Toss won by St Boswells, they chose to bat scoring 113 for 5 from 15 overs.
M Adam 3 overs, 0 maidens, 0 for 13
D Milne 3 overs, 0 maidens, 1 for 20
G Godfrey Faussett 3 overs, 0 maidens, 1 for 25
P Dalrymple: 3 overs, 0 maidens, 2 for 22
O Shale: 2 overs, 0 maidens, 1 for 17
C Godfrey Faussett 1 overs, 0 maidens, 0 for 9
A day of very nearly and what if started with a decent fielding display only marred by leg side wides. St Boswells benefited from the borderers pace attack bringing into reach the shortened boundaries too easily from streaky edges, but 113 was achievable. The chase became tricky after some gentlemanly batting by W Thomson against some junior bowlers becalmed the scoreboard for 3-4 overs. This left too few deliveries for D Milne who accumulated an impressive 40 from 3 overs.
In reply The Borderers scored 96 for 4 in 15 overs.

Game lost, lessons learned. Tournament still alive. Just need to beat Kelso, and beat them well.
The third and deciding match's toss was won by Kelso, they chose to field.
And what a way to start an innings, with 3 top order batsmen, all in good form, maybe we did have a chance. Fast forward a few minutes, keep an eye on these batsmen, the last of whom left the field of play with the score board reading 4 for 4 after 4. W Thomson and G Godfrey Faussett rather reluctantly, and quite unexpectedly found themselves in a tricky spot. Fast forward a few minutes and W Thomson has accumulated 88 runs and G GF is replaced by F Godfrey Fausset to see out the innings with a now respectable 105 for 5.

This was another tidy display in the field from the Borderers with only 8 extras compared to 22 in the first match. The Kelso batting line up fancied their chances and with a relatively low total maybe underestimated the Borderers resilience. Wickets fell just when they were needed, W Thomson backing up his batting taking 4 wickets and 2 run-outs from his own bowling to set up a tense final few overs. Kelso won with 3 wickets in hand after 14 overs, what if and very nearly on everyone's lips.
A fun afternoon of blink and you'll miss it cricket. To be repeated in 2016, maybe, please, without the collapse?
